Zoie McMillian

Zoie McMillian is a Ph.D. Student in the Department of Fish and Wildlife Conservation at Virginia Tech. She received her bachelor’s degree in animal sciences from Virginia Tech in 2020 and her master’s degree in animal sciences from University of Maryland College Park in 2022. Zoie is interested in incorporating ecological methods and human dimensions of wildlife conservation research to inform wildlife management. Her current research at Virginia Tech is centered around identifying potential set points of intervention in the process of illegal collection, trade, and reintroduction of turtles in the United States.

Zoie participated in the LSAMP program here at Virginia Tech from 2016 to 2020 and she is excited to now support MAOP as a Graduate Assistant. She is passionate about supporting undergraduate students and inspiring them to achieve their personal and academic goals. In her spare time, Zoie enjoys hiking, swimming, playing with pets, and watching movies.
