Kalin Ferguson
Hokie Summer Scholars Project Coordinator
Kalin joined the MAOP family in 2023 as a graduate assistant, where she developed extensive advising and mentoring experience through one-on-one engagement with nearly 300 undergraduate students. In this role, she supported students’ academic, professional, and personal growth while contributing to the broader MAOP community.
As Project Coordinator for the Hokie Summer Scholars Program, Kalin leads the planning and implementation of a 10-week summer research experience for Virginia Tech students. The program connects undergraduates with faculty mentors and provides hands-on research opportunities across disciplines. Drawing on her background in research and mentorship, Kalin guides students through key aspects of the research process, including developing research questions, writing abstracts, and effectively communicating their work through research poster presentations. Her work reflects a strong commitment to student success, professional development, and expanding access to meaningful research opportunities.
